A Tangled Web of Deceit

How will Fraser cope with the truth?

Monica Carly’s novel, Fraser’s Line, focuses on the tangled web woven by those whose lives involve lies and deception, and the impact on the characters who have been drawn into the web when eventually the truth emerges.

Fraser, the protagonist in this novel, thinks that he has it all - a loving wife whom he adores and two happy and successful daughters - until one day, after 31 years of marriage Edie suddenly and unexpectedly dies. Fraser now starts to discover the truth about the wife he thought was so perfect. It is not only that she had been involved with other men, nor that she had also failed to provide a completely happy childhood for their two girls, but it also turns out that she was not even the person she had led him to believe.

Fraser’s world is falling apart at the seams, and he can scarcely find the courage to move forward, but then a new acquaintance, Angela, arrives on the scene and becomes an angel in his time of need.

As the story unfolds the reader sees the issues through the different points of view of the various characters, which creates an atmosphere of tension. The plot engages the reader from the start, so that it is very hard to put the book down. At the same time it is easy to follow, making it a pleasurable read at any level.

This is Carly’s first full length novel and it displays a real talent for this style of writing. It is a book to be enjoyed by many and lives on in the imagination after the last page has been reached.
